Playing at the Park

Today we did a little browsing and took the girls to the park. They played for a while and then fed the ducks. We had dinner at a Mexican place that was really, really great for lunch. They had flour tortilla chips in with the tortilla chips - yummy! After that we went to The Sweet Life for ice cream. Poor Coralee, we promised her ice cream in Durango and she's just now getting it. That's patience!
Coralee has been hilarious talking about the aspen trees needing some paint. I tried to put a video on here so you can hear the discussion on the gondola home this afternoon.... http://s63.photobucket.com/albums/h136/edancotton/?action=view&current=165e384b.flv
By the time we got back to the hotel and it was already 3:00 so we didn't attempt a nap. Instead, we went to the pool since the sun was out and the outdoor pool might actually be warm enough to swim in today. It was the best it's been for sure. After swimming, we were sitting in the living room watching TV and Coralee fell asleep in my arms. That just doesn't happen very often so it was really sweet for me. Okay, well, maybe it's happened a good bit on this trip but it's far from normal for us.

Alpine Chapel

This morning Coralee slept in until 8:30 which would be 9:30 our time. Wow. I don't think that's happened in a really, really long time. Of course, she didn't go to bed until almost 10:00 so that isn't too much of a surprise. We had an easy going morning of watching Disney channel while I got my shower. Privacy is a good thing sometimes! We ate breakfast and then headed up to St. Sophia station on the gondola. It's basically the stopping point between Mountain Village and Telluride where all the trails and nature center are located. Ken had found out online that there was a Sunday morning service at 12:30 up on the top of the mountain overlooking Tellurude. We were up there early so we hiked a little bit beforehand. The girls played for a while with flowers leftover from a wedding yesterday. Coralee kept calling the little pavillion a "palace". We went back to the nature center to wait for the service to start. It was kind of funny because so many of the people who were at the service were people we'd talked with in the gondola or in the pool or seen at the playground yesterday. It was amazing to sing praises to God on the top of a mountain! Of course time wise it was right about nap time so Riley fell asleep and Coralee was SO close. Ken stood up at the back and Teresa & I were at the front on a bench. It was super hard for me to try to hold a snuggling kiddo on my lap on a bench while 7 1/2 months pregnant!

The Rest of the Day

After the girls woke up, we went back to the grocery store to exchange some severely freezer burnt chicken.... ewww.... and to get more cream cheese for Sopapilla Cheesecake. We sent Ken upstairs with the chicken and we waited with the girls. Then we all walked around the area where we are staying and found the playground we'd seen from the gondola. It was obviously for bigger kids but the girls had a good time anyway. I left my purse in the room so we didn't have our camera. We're going to swap pictures with David & Teresa once we get home so I'll get those pictures eventually. When we got back to the room, the girls requested a trip to the pool. It started raining as we were about to leave and Ken got this great picture. Well, actually I went in the pool but it was really cold so everyone else went into the hot tub. We came back, had dinner (chicken, steak, corn on the cob, salad & watermelon) and then dessert. I was happily surprised with how well Coralee ate. Poor girlie was probably ready for some non-restaurant food. I know I was!

Town Park

Our big adventure for the day was going to Town Park. They had the best playground for the girls and they were happy to get out to run around and play. Afterwards we went to lunch and then headed back for nap time. Coralee zonked out once again on the gondola. I'm still really surprised she's done that twice. Guess it shows how exhausted she is! Teresa and I went to get groceries down at Mountain Village while the guys took the girls back to the room.

Gondola Ride During the Day

We took the gondola over to Telluride this morning. I'm very relieved we took it last night when I couldn't see. It's a little freaky to see how high you are and how far up or down you are going. The girls really like riding the "G", though.

Our Room

This is the way to go if you ask me! We're staying at the Franz Klammer Lodge. We had the Lodge tour when we got in last night and Ken is officially the only one that paid attention and can figure out the maze. We took a ride on the gondola over to Telluride for dinner with two really sleepy girls. As a matter of fact, Coralee passed out on Ken's shoulder on the ride back. She hardly woke up as we changed her into her jammies. This morning we all slept in.... meaning the girls didn't get up until 7:30 and 8:00. We're going to take it pretty easy today after 3 days of travelling. Coralee has already informed us that she doesn't want to go anywhere today.

Durango

We didn't have a whole lot of time to spend but we did see the Railroad Museum and did a little souvenir shopping, too. Coralee of course loved all the flowers. That's our girl!
